Focus on Sustainable Governance

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals set three bottom lines – economic development, environmental sustainability and social inclusion – for human development. Realizing these will highly depend on a fourth bottom line: good governance at all levels[1]. That’s precisely what IIAS stands for.

Therefore, IIAS is supporting this global agenda:

  • The 2016 IIAS-IASIA Joint Congress, to be held in Chengdu, China, on 20-23 September, will be devoted to the theme of “Building Capacity for Sustainable Governance“.
  • IIAS participates to The 2016 session of the United Nations Committee of Experts in Public Administration (UNCEPA), which will focus on this theme: “Moving from commitments to results: transforming public institutions to facilitate inclusive policy formulation and integration in the implementation and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals
  • IIAS provides a sounding board for other UN agencies and other international partners contributing to this debate.
  • IIAS also reports any news regarding this fundamental agenda
