IPAC says goodbye to CEO Gabriel Sékaly – It is with mixed feelings that the president of IPAC, Wynne Young,  announces that Gabriel Sékaly has resigned from his position as CEO of IPAC, effective July 9, 2010 to take on a new career opportunity with the Ontario Ministry of Education as the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Elementary/Secondary Business and Finance Division.

Local Government in a Global World: Australia and Canada in Comparative Perspective – From Toronto to Sydney and from Winnipeg to Brisbane, global trends are reflected by the practices of local governments. Increased citizen participation, significant reforms in governance and an emphasis on performance management continue to have a significant impact on municipalities in Australia and Canada, according to a study by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC).

IPAC Promising New Professional Award – The Institute of Public Administration of Canada will present one national award each year to a promising new public service professional. The individual will be an emerging leader within the public sector and represent the ideals, values and abilities of sound public administration. The recipient of the national award will be made by selection committee based on the quality of the submission and information provided.

Streamlined Municipal Candidacy Process: The following message was sent to Deputy Heads on January 21st, 2010.
This is to inform you of changes to the process for employees requesting permission to be candidates in municipal elections as committed to in the Public Service Commission (PSC) 2008-2009 Annual Report. These changes came into effect on January 1, 2010, and they do not apply to the process for federal, provincial and territorial elections which remains unchanged.Affirmation of
Aboriginal Affiliation: The Public Service Commission (PSC) is introducing a three-point approach: Effective January 1, 2010, all departments and agencies under the Public Service Employment Act will be required to use an Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF) for advertised and non-advertised, internal and external appointment processes targeted to Aboriginal peoples.
